South County Street Hockey League
Junior InLine Division Rules
The SCSHL is a non-profit hockey organization committed to providing SAFE and FUN street and inline hockey programs for the benefit of local youth and adults. Help us to ensure the quality of our league by following the rules.
)All SCSHL age groups and divisions are non-checking. We will not tolerate any intentional physical contact, high sticking, rough play, or verbal abuse (including poor sportsmanship towards others).
)High sticking is above your waist, but will be called with discretion. There is absolutely no batting the ball above your waist.
)Offensive players must keep their bodies out of the goal crease at all times. Violating the semicircle crease results in a face-off at the opposite end. Violating the rectangular white area is a two-minute penalty and face-off at the opposite end. Sticks are allowed in the crease only when the ball is in the crease.
)Offsides is played at the blue line, but is called only when players do not make an effort to clear the offensive zone.
)Icing is played from the far blue line to the goal line. The whistle is blown as soon as the ball crosses the goal line provided it does not go through the crease.
)The play clock is stopped when there is a stoppage in play only during the last minute of each period.
)Penalties are two minutes long per the play clock.
)Any player who intentionally swings or bangs their stick, foot, fist, or body at the hockey nets, side boards, fence, penalty box, team benches or rink surface will be penalized and/or ejected. This rink is the result of years of hard work by our league and the Town of South Kingstown. Please treat it with respect and observe the rules of good sportsmanship.
)Everyone must provide and wear all the proper equipment at all times while on the rink, bench and penalty box areas or penalties may be assessed.
)Only registered and fully equipped players and certified SCSHL coaches and referees are allowed on the rink and bench areas.
)The SCSHL accepts individual registrations only. No teams.
)Players must show up on time and ready to play. Players must be on the rink before the start of a period.
)Only plastic water bottles are allowed in the rink and only on the team bench areas. No water bottles are allowed on top of the nets. Water bottles ARE NOT to be thrown over the fence in either direction.
)Alcohol is prohibited at Old Mountain Field.
)Smoking is prohibited in the rink.
)The butt ends of all sticks must have a taped knob or butt-cap and blades must be a minimum of 2 inches wide at the tip.
)Players are responsible for cleaning their bench areas of trash at the end of the game. This includes used tape, broken sticks and empty water bottles.
)Games will be cancelled whenever the playing surface is wet. Check the information line at 789-3896 to check rink conditions.
)The on-rink officials have final say during game play. They are the boss. Situations that may involve game suspensions will be decided amongst the league coordinator, the officials present during the game and all team captains and will be handled at the conclusion of the game.
These rules are set fourth for the safety of everyone by the SCSHL Board of Directors. Any comments should be addressed at the Board of Directors Meeting and not with the on-rink officials.
