South County Street Hockey League

Instructional InLine Division Information

The SCSHL Instructional Division is intended for novice and beginner inline hockey players, typically ages 6 to 8. No skills are required. We will teach the kids the hockey basics such as passing and shooting and, if needed, we will help the kids learn how to inline skate. The time slot is divided up between running drills and of course playing some scrimmages - because we know the kids really want to play! Check here for the upcoming season schedule and game times.

Of course working with 15 to 20 six year olds that have never played hockey takes a lot of patience and a lot help so parent involvement is a must. Put on your own inline skates and a helmet or just come on out in your sneakers. You don’t need to know anything about hockey to make a difference. And everyone will have fun!

All games are played at the street hockey rink at Old Mountain Field in Wakefield.  Because the rink is outdoors, games may be cancelled due to the weather. Please check the SCSHL Information Line for schedule updates. The number is 789-3896 and press 5 for the Instructional Division voice mailbox.

Safety is our first priority so make sure to check out the required equipment list. You’ll also find some suggestions on where you can buy the equipment.

Oh yeah, if you have a future Wayne Gretzky in the house, we may be able to move him or her up to the next age group (Junior InLine Division). But first we ask that if your little hockey player falls into this age group, please register them as such. We will only consider moving him or her up after the coaches have evaluated his or her skills.

The cost for the Instructional Division is only $25. You’ll be registered with USA Hockey InLine which includes a magazine subscription, you’ll get a great SCSHL T-shirt and of course about 8 to 10 hockey sessions (weather dependent).

Sounds like fun?  Then sign up!
